PICMIM — Demo video instructions

The goal is to create a video as similar to our example as possible. Read carefully and follow the steps.

Watch the example video

Use this video as your reference and recreate it as closely as possible.

Use this as your starting point, not a script to copy line-for-line. Study the camera moves, the timing, and the energy — then experiment. Try your own reactions, your own angles, your own pacing. The best videos come from creators who make the format their own, so play with it, film a few different takes, and see what feels most natural and watchable for you.

Download the Picmim screen recording

Download the screen recording of the Picmim app and play it on your laptop while you film.

  • Download the file to your computer, then set it to loop or repeat while you film
  • Make sure the recording fills your whole screen with no black bars

Record your video

Your goal is to recreate the example video as closely as possible.

  • #1 Goal: Make it look like you genuinely discovered something useful — like you caught someone cheating at social media
  • Set up your laptop so the Picmim screen recording plays on it — it should fill the screen with no black bars
  • Film yourself reacting to the screen: point at it, laugh, look surprised, zoom in
  • Copy the camera movements from the example — start far away from the actor, zoom in when Picmim generates the post, zoom out when you react
  • Copy the timing — when do you point, when do you zoom, when do you react
  • Keep the actor in the middle of the frame at all times
  • The Picmim screen must be easy to read on the video — make sure there is enough light and no glare on the screen
  • No long silences — keep reacting, keep moving

Once filmed, import into TikTok or Instagram Edits on your phone and add one of these text overlays:

Copy the styling from the example video (font, size, position). Make sure the text overlay stays visible throughout the entire video — it must not disappear.

Quality checklist

Before submitting, go through this checklist carefully and fix any mistakes you can still correct:

  • No long silences in the video
  • Camera is moving from 0:00 — it should never be completely still
  • Video play controls are not visible on the screen recording
  • Camera person starts far away from the actor at the beginning
  • Actor is kept in the middle of the frame throughout
  • Picmim answer on screen is easy to read — no glare, no blur
  • Correct screen recording ratio used — Windows (16/9 or 16/10) or Mac (MacRes)
  • Text overlay or title does not disappear during the video
  • Video and audio quality are good — no pixelation, no muffled sound
