Media Library
The media library is your centralised hub for storing and organising all the creative assets you use in your social media posts. Upload images and videos, organise them with folders and tags, find anything with AI-powered search, and integrate with Canva, Pexels, and GIF services.
Uploading Media
Upload files individually or in bulk using drag-and-drop. Picmim supports chunked uploads for large files, showing real-time progress so you always know the status. Files are automatically optimised for each platform during upload.
- Open the Media Library from the sidebar.
- Click "Upload" or drag files directly into the browser window.
- Monitor the upload progress bar. Large files are uploaded in chunks for reliability.
- Supported formats: JPG, PNG, GIF (images), MP4, MOV (videos).
- Once uploaded, organise files into folders or apply tags right away.
Tip: You can continue working while files upload in the background. A notification appears when all uploads are complete.
Organising with Folders
Create a folder hierarchy that matches your workflow. Assign custom colours and icons to folders for quick visual identification. Nest folders to create deeper structures for campaigns, clients, or content types.
- Click "New Folder" and give it a descriptive name.
- Assign a colour label and icon to the folder for easy identification.
- Drag and drop media files into folders, or select multiple files and use "Move to Folder".
- Create nested sub-folders by adding a folder inside an existing one.
- Use the folder tree in the sidebar to navigate your hierarchy quickly.
Tags and Filtering
Apply tags to your media files for flexible organisation that goes beyond folder structures. A single file can have multiple tags, making it easy to find assets across different campaigns or themes.
- Select one or more media files in the library.
- Click the tag icon or use the bulk action toolbar to add tags.
- Type a new tag name or select from existing tags.
- Filter the library by clicking on tags in the sidebar or using the search bar.
- Combine folder and tag filters for precise results.
AI-Powered Semantic Search
Find images by describing what is in them using natural language. The AI-powered search understands the content of your images, so you can search for "sunset beach photo" or "product shot on white background" and get relevant results even if files are not tagged.
- Click the search bar in the Media Library.
- Type a natural language description of what you are looking for.
- Results appear instantly, ranked by relevance to your query.
- Combine semantic search with folder and tag filters for even more precise results.
Tip: The semantic search works on image content, not just file names. Try descriptive phrases like "team meeting indoors" or "food photography close-up".
Canva Integration
Design directly in Canva and export your creations straight to your Picmim media library. This eliminates the need to download files from Canva and re-upload them manually, streamlining your content creation workflow.
- Install the Picmim app from the Canva Apps directory.
- In Canva, finish your design and click "Share".
- Select "Picmim" from the export options.
- Choose the destination folder in your Picmim media library.
- The asset appears in your library, ready to use in posts.
Pexels Stock Photos
Search and import free stock photos directly from Pexels without leaving Picmim. Browse millions of high-quality, royalty-free images and add them to your media library or directly to a post.
- Click the media button in the post editor or the "Import" button in the library.
- Select "Pexels" from the source options.
- Search by keyword or browse curated collections.
- Click on an image to preview it, then select "Import" to add it to your library.
- Imported images are saved to a "Pexels" folder by default.
Tip: Pexels images are free to use for commercial purposes. Always check the licence if you plan to modify the image.
GIF Search
Search and insert animated GIFs from Giphy and Tenor directly into your posts. GIFs are a great way to add personality and humour to your social media content.
- Click the media button in the post editor.
- Select "GIFs" from the source options.
- Search by keyword or browse trending GIFs.
- Click on a GIF to preview it with animation.
- Select "Add to Post" to include it. GIFs are supported on X, Facebook, and Bluesky.
Warning: Not all platforms support GIFs. Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest do not support animated GIFs in standard posts.
Media Notes and Collaboration
Add collaborative annotations to any media file. Team members can leave notes on specific files, reply in threads, and mark notes as seen. This makes it easy to discuss visual assets, provide feedback, and track review status.
- Open a media file to view its details.
- Click "Add Note" to leave a comment or annotation on the file.
- Team members receive a notification about the new note.
- Reply to notes to create threaded discussions.
- Click "Mark as Seen" to acknowledge that you have reviewed the feedback.
File Details and Metadata
View comprehensive details about any media file including dimensions, file size, format, upload date, and which posts have used the file. This helps you track asset usage and avoid duplicates.
- Click on any media file to open the details panel.
- View file dimensions, resolution, file size, and format.
- See the upload date and which team member uploaded the file.
- Check the "Used in Posts" section to see where this asset has been published.
- Download the original file or delete it from the library.
