Instagram Setup

Connecting Instagram requires a Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook Page. This is a requirement from Meta's API and enables full publishing and analytics capabilities.

  1. Ensure your Instagram account is set to Business or Creator (not Personal).
  2. Link your Instagram account to a Facebook Page in the Instagram app settings.
  3. In Picmim, click "Add Account" and select Instagram.
  4. Log in with your Facebook account that manages the linked Page.
  5. Select the Instagram account connected to your Page.

Warning: Personal Instagram accounts cannot be connected. Switch to a Business or Creator account for free in the Instagram app under Settings > Account.

Facebook Setup

Connect Facebook Pages and Groups to publish content and track performance. You need to be an admin or editor of the Page or Group to connect it.

  1. Click "Add Account" and select Facebook.
  2. Log in with your Facebook credentials.
  3. Grant Picmim permission to manage your Pages and Groups.
  4. Select which Pages and Groups you want to connect.
  5. Each Page or Group appears as a separate account in Picmim.

LinkedIn Setup

Connect your personal LinkedIn profile or Company pages. For company pages, you need to be an administrator of the page to connect it.

  1. Click "Add Account" and select LinkedIn.
  2. Log in with your LinkedIn credentials and authorise Picmim.
  3. Choose your personal profile, company pages, or both.
  4. Company pages require admin access on LinkedIn to connect.

TikTok Setup

Connect your TikTok account to publish videos directly from Picmim. TikTok is a video-only platform, so posts must include video content.

  1. Click "Add Account" and select TikTok.
  2. Log in to TikTok and authorise Picmim.
  3. Select your TikTok account.
  4. When creating posts for TikTok, you must attach a video file.

Tip: Use Picmim's video optimisation to ensure your videos meet TikTok's resolution and duration requirements before publishing.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

If you experience issues connecting or publishing to a social account, these steps resolve the most common problems.

  1. Token expired: Click "Refresh" next to the account in Settings. Re-authorise when prompted.
  2. Permission changes: If you changed your social account password, reconnect the account in Picmim.
  3. Page admin removed: If you lost admin access to a Facebook or LinkedIn page, the connection breaks. Regain admin access and reconnect.
  4. Publishing fails: Check that the content meets platform limits (character count, media type, file size).
  5. Account shows as disconnected: Try refreshing the token. If that fails, disconnect and reconnect the account.

Managing Connected Accounts

Review, refresh, or disconnect accounts at any time from the Connected Accounts settings page. Monitor connection health and act quickly when tokens expire.

  1. Go to Settings and select Connected Accounts.
  2. View the status and last sync time for each connection.
  3. Click "Refresh" if a token has expired or you see sync errors.
  4. Click "Disconnect" to remove an account from your workspace.
  5. Disconnected accounts can be reconnected at any time.

  3. Profile info: Basic profile details (name, follower count) to display in the dashboard.
  4. Media: Permission to upload images and videos to your accounts.
  5. You can review and revoke these permissions at any time from the platform's app settings.
